How to Stream March Madness on Apple Devices

Avatar for David Becker

It’s that time of year again; March Madness. This is the time where the NCAA’s college basketball tournament begins over the next month to determine who is the best team in all of division one college basketball. With that said, here are the ways how you can stream the games on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

iPhone and iPad

For the iPhone and iPad, simply download the official NCAA March Madness app. For games that are on CBS, you will be able to watch them for free. However, for the games that are broadcasted on TBS, TNT, and TruTV, you can watch the games for three hours and then you will have to sign in with your cable/satellite provider.

According to 9to5mac, if you use an Apple TV to stream the games, regardless of what game and which network you are watching it on, you will have to sign-in with a cable/satellite provider.

Mac

It’s pretty much the same for the Mac but you should go to the NCAA’s website to stream games. Like the apps listed above, you will have to sign-in with your cable/satellite provider. CBS games can still be streamed for free.

The first game will start on March 16th at 12:15 E.T. on CBS. The full schedule with times, teams, and networks can be found here.

Apple TV

Your best bet for watching the games is going to be on the Apple TV if you have a cable/satellite subscription, which is required if you want to use the March Madness app. Unfortunately, if you use the March Madness iPad app, you will not be able to AirPlay the games to the Apple TV unless you have a cable/satellite subscription. Also, remember that any game that is on CBS can be streamed on this app for free, as well.

Update (03/16)

If you have a subscription to the CBS All Access app, then you will be able to stream games and coverage from CBS on the app. CBS All Access is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Apple TV.
