Opinion: My Top 3 Favorite Twitter Apps

Twitter is my favorite social network out of them all and because of that, I am always trying to find new ways how to use the service and new features that Twitter is adding to it. Here are three favorite Twitters apps (in order).

  • Tweetbot (iOS, macOS, watchOS): This is by far my favorite Twitter app and probably my favorite app on my iPhone. The reason why I like this one more than the regular Twitter app is that it was made for power Twitter users or people like me who tweet a lot throughout the day. Tweetbot also does not have ads in it, therefore you don’t have to see sponsored tweets. Although the app is a premium one, it is well worth the money if you are in the market to try something new in regards to the Twitterverse.
  • Official Twitter app (iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS): Normally, this is either called Twitter for iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. I put this one as my second favorite on this list because it has more options in terms of how you can use it compared to the third app. Even though I do not enjoy the interface or sponsored tweets, I do like that it shows current news articles and more recently, Twitter is now showing live MLB games on it. This is similar to what they did during the 2016 NFL season when the social network broadcasted Thursday Night Football.

  • Twitterrific (iOS, watchOS): I have used this app in the past when Tweetbot goes down (only happens maybe once a year?) and it is definitely a good looking app. However, it is not as simplistic as Tweetbot or the official Twitter app. The developers are able to push out new Twitter API change updates faster than the Tweetbot developers (Tapbots), but this one still goes as my third favorite Twitter app. The app itself is free but does come with in-app purchases. To get “Everything” will cost $4.99, which is cheaper than Tweetbot’s $9.99 price tag (iOS version).
