Files
A new Files app provides a central location where you can browse, search, and organize files that are stored on your iPad, on iCloud Drive, and even on other cloud services.
Dock
The Dock on iPad makes it easy to get to your favorite apps from anywhere in iOS, even when you’re in another app.
Multitasking
Powerful new multitasking features make it easier to work with multiple apps. Just drag an app out of the Dock to instantly create a Slide Over or Split View. And now both apps you have in Slide Over stay active, so you can use them together.
Drag and Drop
Use the power of Multi-Touch to quickly and easily move text, images, and files between apps, and select multiple items with just a few taps.
QuickType
The iPad keyboard now makes typing more efficient. You can enter numbers, symbols, and punctuation marks by just flicking down on the keys—no need to tap the Shift key.
Notes
Scan paper documents right into your notes with the new document camera. You can use tables in your notes to organize information, and pin important notes to the top of the list. And on iPad Pro, just tap the Lock screen with Apple Pencil to start a new note quickly, then draw or write directly in your note.
Markup
Markup works more seamlessly with Apple Pencil. So you can quickly sign documents, annotate PDFs, and mark up web pages by just putting your pencil down on the iPad Pro screen. iOS 11 also includes a new way to mark up anything on your iPad by taking a screenshot.
iPhone and iPad
Apple Pay
Send money to friends and family instantly in Messages or with Siri using Apple Pay. Money you receive is added to your Apple Pay Cash account and can be used to make purchases anywhere Apple Pay is accepted.
Siri
Siri has a new voice, new music features, translation support, and more. With iOS 11, Siri learns about your preferences, relationships, and how you pronounce names. Siri also helps you through your day with more proactive suggestions.
Photos and Camera
New Live Photo effects continuously replay action for a magical experience. Memories has been enhanced with more memory types, better curation, and new portrait-oriented Memory Movies. Portrait Mode on iPhone 7 Plus now supports image stabilization, flash, and HDR. And Camera can also automatically detect QR codes.
Maps
See detailed indoor maps for malls and airports worldwide and search for stores, restaurants, and more. Lane guidance helps you know exactly which lane you need to be in before the next move and you can see speed limits for the road you’re on as you drive.
Do Not Disturb while driving
iPhone can detect when you may be driving, and automatically turns on Do Not Disturb to keep you focused on the road.
ARKit
ARKit introduces a new framework that enables developers to easily create augmented reality apps with integrated support for Metal, SceneKit, and more.
Core ML
Core ML provides easy integration of machine learning models to enable apps to learn, predict, and become more intelligent. Apps can use new APIs to detect faces, shapes, landmarks, and more.
AirPlay 2
AirPlay 2 is a new way to enjoy multiroom music from an iOS device. And you can control multiroom music playback from Apple Music, Control Center, and Siri. The Home app also adds support for controlling AirPlay 2 speakers.
Control Center
iOS 11 brings an all-new design for Control Center, so you can now customize controls. And a new Lock screen delivers a more convenient way to see notifications all in one place.
Messages
Get to your favorite apps faster with the redesigned app drawer. Emphasize messages in more ways with new full-screen effects. And messages are now stored in iCloud so you always have all your conversations across all your devices.
Music
Discover new music with your friends. Follow people you know to see which albums, playlists, and artists they’re listening to on Apple Music.
