With the cost of the 12-inch MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Pro being the same price, what is the better buy for your money? Obviously, they both have their good and bad features, but what is the one that you can be happy about at the end of the day?Â
The 12-inch MacBook has for specs a (specs from Apple) 1.2 GHz dual-core 7th generation Intel Core m3 processor. The laptop also has 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD on the baseline model, which is priced at $1,299 on Apple’s website and the Apple Store.
What this laptop excels in are its size and portability. The processor is good but will not be able to handle heavy duty apps like Final Cut Pro or Photoshop. Yes, it does run with 8GB of RAM, but it is fanless, ergo you could possibly ruin this laptop by running intense programs and apps on it.
If you’re the kind of person that just wants to surf the web, stream TV from services such as Netflix and Hulu, and compose emails, then this is a great machine for the money.
With the 13-inch MacBook Pro, it’s an entirely different story. Spec-wise (from Apple), you’re looking at a 2.3 GHz dual-core 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It also has two Thunderbolt 3 ports.
The thing about this laptop that the user will love is the fact that it is a fast, powerful, and pro machine. When you use this thing, you’re going to likely be doing some highly intensive work.
Like the 12-inch MacBook, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is incredibly portable and mobile. This is impressive if you factor in how much it can do for you and how much you’re going to get out of it.
In my opinion, if you’re in the market for either the 12-inch MacBook or the 13-inch MacBook Pro. I would say to get the MacBook Pro. Not only would you be getting a better computer, but you would also be future proofing yourself. At the end of the day, it’s the better computer and the best bang for your buck.
