The College Football Saturday kickoff will be starting in nearly 24 hours. Yes, there were some games on Thursday night, but most of the games will be played on Saturday. With all of the networks that air college football, one might think that this would be an impossible task to do legally. This is 2017, though. A little cable/satellite package is not going to stop us.
One of the first alternatives to go to are live TV streaming services. They come with many channels and are pretty affordable compared to standard cable and satellite packages. These live TV streaming services are the following: Sling TV, DirecTV Now, PlayStation Vue, and Hulu with Live TV. I would recommend YouTube TV, but it is still not
I would recommend YouTube TV, but it is still not available everywhere yet. If you can get it, by all means, go for it. With that said, get used to watching the games on your iPhone or iPad since YouTube TV does not have an Apple TV app at the moment.
TV networks do carry live streams of some of their games. ESPN and FOX Sports are known for this and are great for the Apple TV since users can watch up to four games at once. The user must also be able to sign-in to their cable, satellite, or live TV streaming service provider in the app.
NBC Sports, CBS Sports and Big Ten Network (BTN) also have their own apps for streaming their games, too. The games can be streamed from their apps or websites, but just like ESPN and FOX Sports, you must sign in with a TV provider.
Just because you see your provider available, does not mean you will get the game you want to watch. For example, if you have the basic cable package or a Sling Orange account, you will not be able to stream games from ESPN U or ESPNEWS. It’s all a matter of your TV provider and what plan you have.
As long as you have TV provider of some kind and an Apple device, there will always be a way stream college football this season. All of these apps and services can be used on an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Mac. Make sure you check out which options are available to you this season, and if you absolutely need to, upgrade your TV plan to get something better.
