Opinion: Can You Manage a Blog with Only an iPad in 2018

With the way how the iPad and iPad Pro have changed the way we as consumers view the tablet market, one of the questions that have probably popped in many people’s heads is whether or not you can write for and manage a blog with only an iPad? Now with the addition of the Apple Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro and countless Bluetooth keyboards for the regular iPad and iPad Mini, this is an excellent question!

It’s no secret that iOS 11 was primarily designed to, as some may think, to “make the iPad great again!” iOS 11 has done that and then some by giving it more purpose and showing users that the iPad can be used for more things than just watching Netflix and YouTube or a bigger screen to check social media updates.

Getting more to the subject, I am in absolute agreement that you can use just an iPad to manage a personal or even a company blog.

For example, I’ll use an app and service like WordPress. Their iOS has been updated on the iPad so that users can use features that were previously made only available to a desktop computer or laptop. However, thanks to many updates to the WordPress for iOS app, we as bloggers have access to those features now.

Other services like Squarespace, Google’s Blogger, and Weebly also have iPads and features that make it possible to manage a blog directly from an iPad too. All of these apps allow you to write, check stats/page views, see and respond to comments and make changes to your blog.

On top of all of that, iOS 11 has made the iPad, iPad Mini 4 and iPad Pro so that you can truly multitask. this means that users can have Pages and Notes opened at the same time or WordPress and Safari. Both of which will allow you to get blogging done.

Like I said earlier, Apple also has the Smart Keyboard, which is available for both the 10.5 and 12.9-inch iPad. The iPad and iPad Mini 4 have third-party Bluetooth keyboards that are also available from stores like Best Buy and Amazon. This makes it so that not only do you not have an excuse to write, but your typing and the way you write is going to be more accurate than typing from a touchscreen.

Another app that is available to all iOS users is that the Grammarly for iOS app exists and as of November 2017, the app is available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It’s the same browser extension as seen in Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox, and still has the same functions and purpose; to make sure you’re writing is perfect.

At the end of it all, it is very much possible, in my opinion, to be able to write for and manage a blog directly from an iPad in 2018. The technology is available to us and the software is just right to where we no longer need to carry a laptop with us to write on 24/7. If you prefer to write on a laptop, there’s nothing wrong with that at all. I’m just here to point out that there are alternatives to a laptop for blogging in 2018.
