Update 2 4:45 PM CDT: According to multiple sources, the system appears to be back up and running after about an hour and a half of downtime. You may expect lines to be longer at the Apple Store this evening if you plan to buy an iPhone XS or Apple Watch Series 4.
Update 1 3:00 PM CDT: Appleosophy has confirmed that all Apple Stores are affected by this issue, and it is global. Apple has not replied to our request.
Appleosophy has confirmed that Apple is experiencing some technical issues for customers purchasing the newly-released iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and Apple Watch Series 4.
First reported by AppleInsider, customers reported that were being refunded for pre-paid reservations and being told to order the iPhone again on the spot.
AppleInsider reports that: “some stores are reporting a complete point-of-sale system crash, and others are saying that only the pre-order and Apple upgrade program aspects were not functional.”
Users are getting frustrated with Apple, with one user saying on Twitter:
You can do better than this
@apple ! All of your systems are down and I can’t pick up a computer that there at the store. Paid for. And neither can this huge and growing line of people waiting for iPhones.#trustfail#badservice@AppleSupport do you support Apple Stores? Mall of Georgia store could use it right about now.
Apple currently has no ETA on when the issue will be fixed. Appleosophy’s Vis Berry contacted Apple for comment, but as of now, there has been no reply.
