Tumblr App Temporarily Removed from the App Store

Tumblr’s iOS app has been removed from the App Store for a reason that many people either didn’t know about. The company has said on their website that it is for the basic maintenance, but there is actually a bigger reason for this.

As it turns out, the reason for this is that according to a message posted on Twitter last night, over 20 percent of Tumblr consists of pornography. What Tumblr is essentially trying to do is cleanse itself of all of the child pornography that is on the service since it is illegal, and for a site like Tumblr, it is apparently easy to access, especially for minors.

There is no current timeline when the social media site plans to get their app back on the App Store. However, there is still a way to get an older version of the app that will allow you to still use the site.

The way how to do this is to go to the App Store, go to Updates, tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner and then go through your downloaded apps where you should be able to find an older version of the Tumblr app. The functionality of it might not be the best, but it is certainly better than nothing.

We will update this article when the app has gone back up in the App Store.
