Even Before the 2018 iPhones were released, there were rumors of iPhones that it will drop 3D Touch support at some point. Apple kept 3D Touch support for the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max but they did not support the iPhone Xr as they removed the 3D Touch layer from the iPhone Xr Display. Instead, they brought Haptic Touch to the iPhone Xr which gives you a Haptic Feedback when you long Press on certain toggles like in the Control Centre and Notification Centre. With iOS 13, Support for Haptic Touch has been extended to the iPhone SE from 2016 which has no 3D Touch layer. Haptic Touch has become even more helpful. You can now Haptic Touch on any icon in the springboard and a 3D Touch like menu will appear. So the Non-3D Touch devices have now got all the features of 3D Touch with Haptic Touch. Haptic Touch is also enabled on iPads that support iPadOS.

Since they are adding Haptic Touch Support to non 3D Touch Devices, and Haptic Touch has all the features a 3D Touch Device has , the 2019 iPhones may have Haptic Touch, which means that Apple might remove the 3D Touch layer from all the 2019 iPhones including the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max and ofcourse the iPhone 11R. Since Haptic Touch can do whatever 3D Touch does, it does not make sense for Apple to produce the 2019 iPhones with 3D Touch Displays. Removing the 3D Touch layer will cut down costs for the production of the iPhone which may affect the pricing of the iPhone
