Yesterday, we published an article about having a movie night for only $10. Well, today, we are going to try and see if we can find a way to have a movie night for $5 or under.
For this example, I have picked out the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower. This was a movie chosen by me since it is one of my personal favorites and the fact that it is possible to get the film for super cheap online and in physical DVD versions. I will also be assuming that you already have snacks and drinks available to you via weekly grocery shopping.
Moving forward, let’s say that you have the food and drinks that you want so you can stay in and watch a movie. The good news is that with The Perks of Being a Wallflower and other older movies out there, you can do just that!
The Perks of Being a Wallflower can be rented on iTunes for $3.99, leaving you $1 to spare! However, the movie can be purchased on DVD for cheap too. Check out your $5 (or less) movie bin at Target or Walmart. I have personally seen the movie available for as low as $2-3 at some stores because of how old it is, yet such a cult classic.
Now let’s say that you don’t want to watch that movie but a different one. Other movies like 500 Days of Summer, the Taken movie series and many others can be found at retail stores for $5 or less. Renting them would be the same $3.99 price for both of them.
When it comes to streaming movies, streaming services have been a great way to reduce the cost of a movie night by simply having an account to Netflix, Hulu or Prime Video. With that said, there are movies on all of them that are great to watch.
In fact, here is a single movie for each streaming service to stream for a movie night, whether you are with friends or alone:
- Netflix: Good Will HuntingÂ
- Hulu: The Devil Wears Prada
- Prime Video: Zombieland
So yes, it is possible to have a great movie night via streaming services too and I hope that this guide will enable you to have great movie nights all this summer!
