Update: Facebook has confirmed that all platforms affected by the outage are now 100% working. They haven’t said what affected this.

On every Facebook platform and service today, users have had issues loading images, other media and general content on their news feeds. According to user response, Instagram is struggling to load the feed and stories, Facebook cannot load the News Feed and WhatsApp is unable to send messages.

Facebook has said that it is aware of the problems, and is “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible”. DownDetector suggests issues started from 8AM ET and are now reducing, and affecting a limited number of users.

In recent months, we’ve seen many major services come down. Slack was down for hours last week, along with DownDetector and websites that use Google’s Cloudflare hosting platform. Facebook’s issues are unrelated to this. The company hasn’t commented on what’s gone wrong.

Updates when we get them…
