Apple and Spotify are reportedly in talks for letting Siri play Spotify’s content. Users will be able to control the playback of Spotify’s music, podcasts, etc. by using Siri voice commands.
The Information reports that both the companies have a plan to let their users control the music by using Siri. iOS 13 will bring in new APIs which will make it possible for developers of audio apps to integrate with Siri. With iOS 13 the SiriKit framework will be available to third-party music, podcast, audiobook, and radio applications. Spotify might use this in order to make the playback feature work.
Apple has given the liberty to other third-party apps to make use of Siri commands, like you can use Siri to send a message in Whatsapp instead of the Messages app or open other photo apps, etc.
The report also tells us that there is some kind of a special agreement between both the companies regarding this feature. iOS 13 will be released for the public in the next month and we expect Spotify to have worked on this until then.
