Ever since the announcement of the gen one AirPods, costumers have expressed a desire to have them included in the purchase of any new  iPhone models, instead of the lightning EarPods, due to the popularity and ease of use of the wireless earbuds. But now, according to a report by the Taiwanese publication DigiTimes, it might come true for next year’s iPhone models.

According to the rumor, Apple and other smartphone manufacturers such as Sony and Xiaomi are considering including their respective pairs of truly wireless earbuds on the higher end models of next year’s smartphones. Finally, in pursue of a truly wireless future, these companies will ditch all sorts of wired earbuds and give costumers a great experience with their respective alternatives.

This might seem unusual, specially for the Cupertino-based company, as they would loose a part of their income on the wireless earbud market. For example, the already included wired EarPods cost $30 USD, and if Apple decides to include the base, non-wireless charging AirPods, they would have to take the hit on the cost, which is five times more expensive that the already included alternative. Taken into consideration, this might fall in line with previous reports that next year’s iPhone will be more expensive than last year’s, but it still begs the question, “Will Apple take the blow and include their top selling accessory with their top selling product?”.

Of course, this would be amazing for consumers, as they wouldn’t have to spend more to get the experience Apple imagined, but this seems like something that would hurt the market share that Apple currently has in the wireless earbuds scene. But, as good as this news might be, there is no concrete evidence about this, and Apple has not, and won’t, comment on this rumor until they decide to announce it on this year’s September event.

What is your take on this? Would you like this change on Apple’s business model? Tell us your opinion down below.
