According to a recent post in the Apple Pay subreddit, the well-known Harkins Theaters will be removing Apple Pay support at their theaters.
The user that posted this in the subreddit noted that the reason that Harkins Theaters is making this move is due to security reasons from Apple Pay and other NFC/contactless-based payment methods (contactless credit and debit cards, Google Pay and Samsung Pay).
Harkins Theaters has not put out an official statement at this time about the change.
One good thing to come out of this is that this is only happening at the physical movie theaters. Users of Apple Pay can still pre-order their tickets for movies that are played at Harkins Theaters through apps like Fandango and make their movie ticket purchases with Apple Pay through the app too.
