This past fall, Apple released macOS Catalina, and with that, came the loss of the iTunes app. To replace it, Macs with macOS Catalina now have Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV apps.

There is a simple fix to have both your Apple Music library in the app, but also still be able to access the iTunes Store too.

The way how to do this is to access the preferences in the app, which can be done by either going to the Menu Bar on top of your screen (right next to the Apple logo in the top-left corner) and clicking “Music” on it.

Another way to do this is to have the Apple Music app open and have it be the “currently in use app,” and then hit “Command + ,” on your keyboard. That will get you to the Preferences part of the app.

After that, you go to General and then right near the bottom, there should be an option that will enable you to show the iTunes Store in the Apple Music app on the side of the app.

Once you have clicked on the checkmark and made it appear, it will be right above the playlist section on the toolbar of the app.

Just like that, you will now have access to the iTunes Store from the Apple Music app. When placing searches in the app from there, you can go to the Search tab of the app on the left side on the toolbar. When placing a search in the Apple Music app, you will have the option to search Apple Music, your library or the iTunes Store.

It solves the problem for those artists that do have select songs or albums that are not available to stream directly from Apple Music.
