One thing that people have been looking for in the next version of the iPhone is that it not have a notch. This notch has been with the iPhone since the release of the iPhone X in November 2017.

Apple’s website is currently selling the Incase ICON Lite Backpack II in the Apple Store. This may not seem like much, but in the pictures of the backpack, you can see an iPhone poking out of the top of the backpack, and you can also see that there is no notch on it.

Either this is a slip-up by Apple or a sign of things to come this year. The notch has historically been the spot where Apple puts the front-facing camera and the sensors used for Face ID so that users can get into their iPhones but without using the old Touch ID, and getting in without a passcode too.

The non-S versions of the iPhone are usually the one that gets the new body design. We saw this just last year with the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro since the phone came with three rear cameras.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 12 this fall, likely sometime around September 2020.
