Apple announces the new & refreshed iPad Pro

The highly anticipated and rumored device has been announced just a while back on Apple’s Website. Last Time, Apple announced its refreshed its iPad Pro earlier in October 2019 in a special event. It is not the same case this time due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Apple could not have this year’s March event to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and because of the mandatory order issued by the Santa Clara County banning all gatherings of more than 1000 people to prevent the spread of the virus. Even though Apple could not have this event, they have announced the new and refreshed iPad Pro on their website. Apple has switched to a one-and-a-half-year release cycle for the iPad Pro as rumored earlier.

Apple says “Your next computer is not a computer.” on their website for the new & refreshed iPad Pro. They also mention that the iPad Pro beats most of the PC laptops in terms of performance. This iPad features a Liquid Retina Display which the same Display technology found in the iPhone Xr, iPhone 11, and iPad Pro (2018). This display is has a refresh rate of 120Hz, Industry-leading color accuracy, 600 nits brightness, P3 Wide Color Gamut, Ultralow Reflectivity, and True Tone Technology. The A12 chip in last year’s iPhone models were as it is very powerful, this iPad Pro just took it even further. This iPad also features a 10MP Ultra Wide lens along with the primary 12MP wide lens. The camera system features a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor. This helps in determining the distance by measuring the amount of time it takes light to reach an object and reflect back much like the Sonar (Sound Navigation and Ranging) used by Ships and submarines to determine distance using Sound waves. This new LiDAR sensor uses time-of-flight to measure reflected light from a maximum of 5 meters away which includes both indoors and outdoors. This new LiDAR sensor works at a Photon level which works in speeds as low as nanoseconds. Apple says that this sensor opens up possibilities for Augmented Reality. Apple is working on a new AR app codenamed ‘Gobi’ according to the codes found in iOS 14 obtained by 9To5Mac. Read our article about iOS 14 here.

This iPad Pro has a cool accessory which will make this iPad even better. It is the Magic Keyboard. This Magic Keyboard has a Trackpad and a full-sized keyboard, similar to the Macs and Macbooks. How cool is that? This Keyboard attaches magnetically to the iPad and it has a floating design much like the way the Pro Stand attaches the Pro Display XDR which floats too. This helps better & smooth angle adjustment. It also has a USB-C port on its side which charges the iPad. Wow, this accessory is extremely convenient!
