Apple had introduced “iPad Pro” to its iPad lineup in their September Event in 2015 alongside the revolutionary iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with iOS 9. Apple offered 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes for the iPad Pro in 2015. Both these iPad Pro’s had the powerful A9X chip. Post that, in June 2017, Apple had refreshed the iPad Pro lineup, and increased the screen size of the iPad Pro 9.7-inch to 10.5-inch, by reducing the bezels. The screen size of the 12.9 inch iPad Pro remained the same but both these iPads got a processor upgrade, having the A10X chip. In October 2018, Apple refreshed their iPad Pro lineup, giving it a processor upgrade, Face ID, and dramatically reduced the bezels. Apple increased the screen size of the iPad Pro 10.5-inch to 11-inch and the screen size of the iPad Pro 12.9-inch remained the same but both these iPads now had less bezels and the powerful A12X Bionic Chip with Face ID.

On March 18th, Apple announced a refresh to its iPad Pro lineup on their Newsroom page. The tagline for this iPad is “Your next computer is not a computer.” This upgrade includes the A12Z chip, a 10MP Ultra Wide lens along with the primary 12MP wide lens. with a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor. The LiDAR sensor helps in determining the distance by measuring the amount of time it takes light to reach an object and reflect back much like the Sonar (Sound Navigation and Ranging) used by Ships and submarines to determine distance using Sound waves. This new sensor uses time-of-flight to measure reflected light from a maximum of 5 meters away which includes both indoors and outdoors. It works at a Photon level which works in speeds as low as nanoseconds. Apple says that this sensor opens up possibilities for Augmented Reality.

Along with this iPad Pro Apple, also announced cool accessory which will make this iPad even better. It is the Magic Keyboard. This Magic Keyboard has a Trackpad and a full-sized keyboard, similar to the Macs and Macbooks. How cool is that? This Keyboard attaches magnetically to the iPad and it has a floating design that helps better & smooth angle adjustment. It also has a USB-C port on its side which charges the iPad. Apple has enabled Trackpad support on iPadOS 13.4 across all iPads.
