Recently, rumors have surfaced around an update to Apple’s monthly news subscription Apple News+. The rumored update will give users the option to listen to articles.

9to5Mac was able to gain access to the Apple News+ Audio feature through the recent 13.5.5 developer beta. The audio content is expected to be voiced by Apple voice actors. Users who have not subscribed to the Apple News+ will be able to listen to previews of a few minutes.

Last month Apple was reportedly approaching publishers to get their stories in audio form. Apple was offering to handle production costs and compensate publishers the same way they are for written content.

The leak from 9to5Mac doesn’t confirm a release date for this feature, but we may see it arrive soon with the public release of iOS 13.5.5
