There was an interesting post put on Reddit yesterday regarding more information on the possibility of Walmart accepting Apple Pay.
We reported earlier this year that Walmart could be planning on bringing Apple Pay support to its stores. Even Apple Card support has suggested Walmart could be accepting it soon.
The post from Reddit came from a user who had recently spoken with Walmart customer service over its text chat feature. The user mentioned he was specific with the customer service representative and that the representative understood what he was talking about.
Right now, the only way to use any form of Apple Pay at any of Walmart’s stores or brands is through buying items at Sam’s Club through Instacart, renting movies from Redbox and buying food from McDonald’s or Subway.
Last year, national American retailer Target made the update and brought Apple Pay support to its stores. It was previously only available in the Target app.
Even in 2020, Dollar Tree, Publix and plenty of others have flipped the switch to begin accepting Apple Pay in their stores.
Walmart adding Apple Pay to its stores and/or app would be a step in the right direction for the company and would help customers keep safe from the current coronavirus pandemic, as well as provide simple convenience for them too.
