Apple has recently removed the ‘Apple TV Remote’ app from the App Store, which allowed users to use their iPhone, iPod or iPad as an Apple TV remote.
The ‘Apple TV Remote’ app is no longer available on the App Store and has most likely been discontinued by Apple and will no longer receive updates.
In iOS 12, Apple integrated the Apple TV Remote in the control center, allowing users to control their Apple TV without the need for an app.
9to5Mac has discovered Apple has removed all references to the Apple TV remote app, suggesting it has been discontinued and no longer supported.
If you have already have the ‘Apple TV Remote’ app installed you will still be able to use it and control your paired Apple TV, though if you haven’t downloaded it you will no longer be able to unless you have previously downloaded the app on your Apple ID.
