HomePod System 14.4 Released For HomePod and HomePod Mini With New U1 Features

Apple has released HomePod System 14.4 for the HomePod and HomePod Mini along with iOS 14.4, iPadOS 14.4, tvOS 14.4, and watchOS 7.3.

HomePod System 14.4 includes new U1 Ultra Wide Band functionality for the HomePod Mini and iPhone 11 and 12 models with U1.

Software version 14.4 includes bug fixes and the following new features with an Ultra Wideband (U1) equipped iPhone.
– Hand off music with visual, audible, and haptic effects from ‌iPhone‌ to ‌HomePod mini‌
– Get personalized listening suggestions on ‌iPhone‌ when it is next to ‌HomePod mini‌
– Media controls automatically appear without having to unlock ‌iPhone‌ when it is close to ‌HomePod mini‌

Visual, Audio and Haptic effects have been added when songs are transferred to the HomePod mini from a U1 enabled device. When an iPhone is near, haptics will begin, and increase as the device approaches the HomePod mini.

HomePod System 14.4 adds personalised listening suggestions for users, when an iPhone is next to the HomePod mini. U1 is only available on the HomePod mini and on iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 models.
