As reported by MacRumors earlier today, it appears as though the Apple TV third generation has lost another app; the MLB app.

This comes at an important time since MLB spring training is underway, with the 2021 MLB season set to have its opening day on Thursday, April 1. And no, that is not an April Fool’s Day joke.

At this time, the only way to use the MLB app on the big screen would be through its tvOS app on the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. The interface of those apps can be seen below.

The only way to still use the MLB app on the Apple TV third generation would be to have it on an iPhone or iPad and AirPlay the content the device to said Apple TV.

However, MacRumors’ article did state that a Twitter user did say that they cannot use AirPlay to the Apple TV third generation in the MLB app.

Other apps such as the YouTube and CBS All Access apps for the Apple TV third generation plan to discontinue their app support on the device this month.

Through the MLB app, you can stream every single out of market MLB game through the MLB app for as low as $24.99 a month, which can be subscribed to through the App Store.

What do you think of the MLB app no longer working on the Apple TV third generation? Will this change the way you watch MLB games this season? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy
