Today the iPad Pro has happily joined the M1 Family of Chips along with the new redesigned iMac. Apple has today announced the long-awaited iPad Pro refresh with the groundbreaking M1 chip, 5G, and Liquid Retina XDR display with Mini LED on the 12.9-inch Model.

Design:

The All-New iPad Pro comes in a flat design and comes in 2 sizes: 11-inch and 12.9-inch. The height, width, and depth are the same as its previous generation.

Performance & Storage: 

The New iPad Pro is driven by the powerful Apple’s M1 Chip, taken straight from the Macs. This is the first time an iPad is driven by a Mac Chip. With an 8-core CPU & GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, the new iPad Pro is blazingly fast and can perform computer-like operations with ease providing 50% faster CPU speeds & 40% faster GPU Speeds along with the power of iPadOS 14. Moreover, it has up to 16GB of Memory / RAM, and up to a whopping 2TB of Storage. 8GB of RAM is available on models with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage while 16GB RAM is available on models with 1TB or 2TB of storage.

Computer hardware has been brought over to the iPad Pro which is now even more capable than it was before.

Connectivity:

5G is the future and it has now made its debut to the new iPad Pro with mmWave Models being available in the U.S. The new iPad Pro also adds 2 New bands for Gigabit-class LTE. The USB-C Port on this iPad does much more than you could ever imagine. Apple has added support for Thunderbolt / USB 4 to the port, capable of Up to 40 Gbps bandwidth for wired connections. Moreover, you can now connect the Pro Display XDR and run it at full 6K Resolution. Be it External Hard Drives or an External Display, this port handles it all seamlessly.

Display:

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro adds a new “Liquid Retina XDR” Display with Mini LED and a contrast ratio 1,000,000:1. This new innovative Display Features a whopping 1000-nits of full-screen brightness and 1600 nits of peak brightness for HDR Content on top of other features like ProMotion, P3 Wide Color Gamut, and True Tone from the previous generation. It has over 10,000 Mini LEDs with over 2500 Local Dimming Zones which greatly helps in making your content look stunning. However the 11-inch iPad retains the Liquid Retina Display from the Previous Generation with up to 600 nits of Brightness, ProMotion, P3 Wide Color Gamut, and True Tone.

Camera & Sound:

The iPad Pro features a 10MP Wide Camera & 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera along with the revolutionary LiDAR Scanner. With the new M1 chip, the iPad Pro is now capable of Smart HDR 3. The TrueDepth Camera System used for Face ID now has a new Ultra-Wide Sensor with a 122° field of view, making it perfect for FaceTime Calls and a new featured debuted with it, called “Center Stage”. When you move around with you iPad during a FaceTime call or a Video Conference Call, this feature will allow you to be centered in the frame using Machine Learning, adding to the seamless experience. The iPad Pro features Five studio”‘quality microphones to record great sound for a great video along with Theater like sound with the Four speaker audio that supports Dolby Atmos.

Accessories:

Both the iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) and the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation) have support for the state of the art Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) and the Magic Keyboard with the trackpad. In addition to this, Apple has added a new White Color for the Magic Keyboard, so now it has two color options – Black & White to match your iPad Pro.

Apple has made the iPad Pro an even more powerful beast by adding Mac-like specs to it. The M1 chip, Liquid Retina XDR Display, Support for Thunderbolt & USB 4, Up to 16GB of Memory and Up to 2TB of Storage jointly makes it a powerful device. Computer-like Power on a Tablet, or “iPad”, as that’s the standard now. Indeed, “Your next computer is not a computer”.
