Hulu has recently updated its tvOS app so users can now have access to 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound through it. This will work for those with the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K.
The version of the app that runs this is Version 7.26.
According to The Streamable, content on Hulu that has support for the Dolby Surround Sound are programs like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which is a Hulu Original.
Other content on Hulu that has support for it is “Modern Family,” “Last Man Standing” and “This Is Us.” For other TV shows and movies that have Dolby support, there should be an icon on the show profile in the app that will say “5.1.”
At this time, support for the feature is not available on Hulu with Live TV.
Hulu costs $5.99 a month for its ad-supported tier and $11.99 a month for its ad-free version, and is available to stream on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Apple TV, Apple TV third generation and Mac. The Hulu app does sync with the Apple TV app as well.
