In a somewhat shocking move so far in this early summer, TikTok is now allowing its users to fast forward and rewind on select videos on the video-sharing platform.

This was discovered initially by myself while using TikTok, but other users on Twitter have noticed the same thing.

The image below is when I discovered it in the app.

As you can see from the said image above, if you put a finger on that ball, you can both fast forward and rewind the video, in case you missed something.

Previously, if you missed a certain part of a video on the service, you would have to wait till it played it again and then wait until it got to the part that you missed.

What makes this slightly more interesting is that this does not appear to have come from an app update from TikTok, but that it actually came without one. The latest version of TikTok is Version 20.0.0, which only states, “We’ve made it easier to shoot video.” There is no wording about it.

While it is not available on every video and might not be out there for every user at this time, it is needless to say that this is at least a gradual update that will eventually be rolled out to all TikTok users.

TikTok is a free app in the App Store and can be downloaded on devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Additionally, it has its own iMessage stickers and video sharing capabilities from iMessage too.

What do you think of being able to fast forward and rewind through TikTok now? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.
