Some form of battery pack for the latest iPhone 12 has been on the rumor mill for years. In fact, Apple has release its battery cases for most of its recent models. Now, the time has come, as Apple debuted its MagSafe Battery Pack, which as the name implies, is base on MagSafe technology also introduced with the iPhone 12 models.

MagSafe allows you to magnetically charge your iPhone 12 without having to worry about misalignments. Since the debut of the iPhone 12, many third-party accessories incorporate MagSafe into detachable wallets, charging stands, and even vent mounts.

With the MagSafe Battery Pack, you can charge your iPhone 12 by intuitively attaching the pack to the back of the iPhone 12. The MagSafe Battery Pack also has a Lightning port built-in, so you can charge both the Battery Pack and the iPhone at the same time as you would with a Smart Battery Case for previous iPhone models. You can even use a 20W or higher USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to Lightning cable for faster charging. Because of the tight integration between the iPhone and the Battery Pack, The battery status of the battery pack is also indicated on the iPhone’s Lock Screen.

Compatibility with the MagSafe Battery Pack requires iOS 14.7, whose Release Candidate has just been released. If all goes well, we could see the public release of iOS 14.7 really soon as Apple prepares shipments for this new accessory. You can order it online here and read its support document as well.
