California residents can put their vaccine record in the Apple Wallet app

If you’re a California resident, you now have an easy way to put your vaccine record into the Wallet app on your iPhone.

The way to do this is through a website called covidwallet.app. From there, you will take a screenshot of your California digital COVID-19 vaccine record SMART QR code.

After that is done, the screenshot can be uploaded that will enable the system to create a pass in the Wallet app.

What makes this is even better is the fact that users will be able to view their COVID-19 vaccine record on both their iPhone and Apple Watch when necessary, and will not be as reliant to carry an easy-to-lose physical vaccine card.

Do you plan on using this? What are your thoughts on being able to access your vaccine card from the Wallet app on your iPhone or Apple Watch? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.

Why not make this app available to everyone – not just residents of California? Everyone with an iPhone has access to the wallet”¦

I don’t have a Smart QR code or a California digital COVID-19 vaccine record. The card I have has no bar code at all. Where would I get that? I received my vaccine in Shasta County in CA. They pulled a sticker from a sheet with the vaccine information and stuck it to the front of the paper card, for both of the two part vaccine. Having a QR code or digital record would make this so much easier than carrying the actual card that is too large to fit in my wallet, unless folded. Which causes a crease and looks to be compromising the stickers and the card.

Go to the state’s website to get your QR code.

Please include instructions on how to upload to the Wallet.app from the photos.app as your article suggests!

We implemented the same idea for Ontario, Canada (a volunteer team) https://twitter.com/billylo/status/1435081323979362304?s=20

Proof of vaccination appears to be something that will be necessary for stadiums, theaters, restaurants in the near future. I currently have a JPG image of the front and back of the CDC Covid-19 card stored on my Iphone, It would be an improvement to store the image in wallet where it would be easier to access.
