Earlier this week, I got the opportunity to upgrade my old iPhone 8 Plus to a brand new iPhone 12 Mini.
The backstory behind this is that either my iPhone 8 Plus’s Lightning port or battery were going out, making it very difficult to charge by said port. Even with wireless charging capabilities, the charging was a lot slower than having a cable in it.
After having these charging port issues for a while, I decided it was finally time to upgrade to something new.
As for the iPhone 12 Mini itself, I do like the blue color on it. The shade is nice, as it is my favorite color, and it also reminds me of the shade of blue like the TARDIS from “Doctor Who,” which I am also a big fan of.
When it comes to the screen, it is a massive improvement from my iPhone 8 Plus. I have found that the black colors on the iPhone 12 Mini look and feel deeper than on the iPhone 8 Plus. The picture for viewing photos and videos online is great too.
What has impressed me the most is, despite the fact that it has an OtterBox Defender case on it, it is still the lightest iPhone I have ever owned. It literally feels like I’m picking up a banana or an actual apple. That is how light this thing is.
The form factor and slim minimalism also make it so it is easy to carry and slip into my pants or coat pockets. My iPhone 8 Plus with its OtterBox Defender case did certainly add some weight and bulk to it and made it difficult sometimes to put into my pocket.
Obviously the cameras have been improved, which I have not used much of yet, but have noticed that when doing Snapchat or Instagram stories, that is where I’m making and getting a clearer picture.
Lastly, the adjustment to Face ID has been a good one. On top of using it to unlock my iPhone and select apps, I have also used it a couple of times already with Apple Pay and Apple Card transactions. It has been so simple and convenient.
Be prepared in the coming days for a full review of this iPhone 12 Mini.
