If you haven’t already know, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers have given customers an iPhone 8 as a temporary replacement for those devices that would need repair. Starting this week, Apple Stores will offer the just-discontinued iPhone XR as a loaner device during lengthier repairs.
The iPhone XR was introduced in September 2018 and was discontinued this September. It was considered a direct upgrade to the previous generation iPhone 8 for several improvements, including the A12 Bionic chip, Face ID, and Liquid Retina display. If your iPhone needs to get repaired, you might be able to get an iPhone XR for free. To do that, you would have to mail your phone to an Apple repair center for service. You can use the loaner device as long as you need until your other iPhone is ready to be picked up. Once it’s ready to be picked up, you must return the loaner device within 14 days.
