It’s 2022 and Apple rumors, leaks, and speculation is already starting strong, as Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo states that Apple’s rumored AirPods Pro 2 earbuds will arrive with Lossless audio and a sound-emitting charging case.
According to an investor note obtained by MacRumors on Sunday, Kuo is noting that Apple will add two new features to the second-generation AirPods Pro earbuds to increase demand. The first feature is Lossless audio coming to the earbuds, this will be a first for an Apple audio product.
The second feature will be in the charging case, which will be sound-emitting, meaning that its users can generate a sound to find its location. This feature will be a major step-up for the Find My system in addition to AirTags, as it will make AirPods Pro 2 an easier product to find.
If the above turns out to be true, a sound-emitting charging case will be the big new feature for the next pair of high-end Apple earbuds, a major selling point for any consumer who wishes to upgrade from the current AirPods Pro.
For Lossless audio, Apple has never added this feature to any of its audio products ”“ including AirPods 3 and AirPods Max ”“, with the reason being that Lossless Audio Codec needs to be transmitted directly without Bluetooth, meaning that all AirPods products cannot receive the feature without some wired connection.
In a previous report, Kuo stated that AirPods Pro 2 will launch in Q4 2022, while Mark Gurman reported that the earbuds will feature eliminated stems and better motion sensors for fitness tracking.
