It looks as though one sporting goods retail chain is trying to score some new customers.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is now enabling customers to contact them via text messages in Apple’s Business Chat in iMessage.

Apple Business Chat is a service provided by Apple that allows customers to pull up a company or business on an app like Apple Maps, tap the Messages icon (bottom-left-corner of the image below), and then immediately start talking to that company’s chat-based customer service all from an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Mac.

Last year, companies such as Best Buy and Chevrolet began using the text message-based customer service feature. Companies like T-Mobile, Home Depot, Discover and others have been known to use Apple Business Chat too.

Now, customers are able to speak with a Dick’s Sporting Goods customer service representative right from iMessage.

This can be good for customers if they need to ask questions regarding product inquiries or availability, the status of their online order and other questions.

It might be pretty basic right now, but when it comes to customer service, it does allow customers to ask simple questions and get simple answers in return, and all without having to call a 1-800 number and be put on hold.

Do you plan on using this new feature if you’re a Dick’s Sporting Goods customer? What are your thoughts on Apple Business Chat overall? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.
