It was reported earlier this week that Apple had added a layer of authentication when it came to its customers trying to use the company’s education discount.

Students and staff that were eligible for the discount were supposed to go through UNiDAYS in order to authenticate and get the education discounts. It was the first time that Apple has ever required some form of verification process in order to get those discounts.

MacRumors has reported that Apple has removed the UNiDAYS verification from its educational store and that it is no longer asking for proof if a customer is a student or staff member.

UNiDAYS has previously been required for authentication for Apple’s United Kingdom Education Store, but there has been no further word on whether the company will require UNiDAYS for verification in the U.S. in the future.

Apple also uses UNiDAYS for eligible students and educational staff to get the student discount on services like Apple Music.
