A few years ago when Twitter updated its API, Push notifications for third-party Twitter apps like Tweetbot were significantly diminished.

In the past year, Twitter has added more features to its API for third-party apps, which is why new features like these are being added to Tweetbot.

Today, Tweetbot 7 added the following new features in its Version 7.1 update:

– Added Background Refresh push option to enable new notification types:

– New Follower notifications

– Quote Tweet notifications

– Enable notifications when specific users Tweet

– Refreshed unread counter

To get the notifications to work, the user will have to have their iPhone or iPad’s Background App Refresh turned on in the Settings app.

Tweetbot 7 currently costs $0.99 a month or $5.99 a year to get full use of the app.
