Last summer during its WWDC 2021 event, Apple announced a new feature in iOS 15 that would enable users to watch and consume media like Apple Music, Apple TV+ and other streaming services with friends through FaceTime with a new feature called “SharePlay.”
SharePlay was officially released in iOS 15.1 last fall and services like Disney+Â and TuneIn that added the feature later in 2021. We have a full list of services that support SharePlay at this time.
As of today, now Pluto TV users have access to using SharePlay through it. This update came in Version 5.17.2 that states the following:
“Our team is dedicated to constantly improving Pluto TV with new features, product enhancements and improvements to bring you the best entertainment experience on the planet.
Watch with friends! This release brings Apple Shareplay, which allows you to share and watch on-demand content with anyone using Apple OS 13 or higher.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates & out of this world features coming soon!”
Those who are looking to use this feature must be using at least iOS and iPadOS 15.1 or higher, including the people you are looking to use SharePlay with. You can see how SharePlay works from the video below.
Pluto TV is a free app and is available to stream on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Apple TV and Mac.
