Renown Apple leaker Ming Chi-Kuo recently mentioned on Twitter that Apple is working on a new Apple TV that will be released sometime in later 2022.
Apple will launch a new version of Apple TV that improves cost structure in 2H22. I think that Apple's aggressive strategy of integrating hardware, content, and service amid the recession will help close the gap with its competitors.

Currently, Apple sells the Apple TV 4K starting at $179 for 32GB and the Apple TV HD for $149. Apple also sells a 64GB version of the Apple TV 4K for $199.
One of the issues over the years with the Apple TV has been its price point. The first generation alone cost $299 during a time when a device like it was a question mark to a lot of consumers. Its second and third generations got cheaper at just $99, with the third-generation Apple TV eventually getting as low as $69.
Despite both of the Apple TVs currently on the market (the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD), Apple is still having issues with its market share and competing streaming players/devices.
According to EarthWeb.com, there are 28.3 million active Apple TVs as of 2020. Apple did additionally release a new version of the Apple TV 4K last year and a newly designed Siri Remote to go with it.
It would be interesting to see if Apple were to drop the price of a new Apple TV to somewhere around $75-100 and make it more affordable for consumers.
Apple has used the device over the years to promote services like the Apple TV app and Apple TV+, which are available on other streaming devices like the Fire TV, Roku and Android TV. Apple TV+ is the home of MLB Friday Night Baseball that launched this spring too, as well as other popular content such as “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show” and “Dickinson.”
