Well-known Apple analyst and leaker Ming Chi-Kuo has recently said that Apple could be releasing a new HomePod either late this year or early next year.
Apple’s newest version of the HomePod was released in 2020 which was the HomePod Mini for $99. Last year, the company re-released the product in a few new colors like blue, red and yellow, along with its previous black and white versions.
Apple released its first HomePod in 2018 and it cost $349. It was discontinued in March 2021.
Kuo has not said much about this new HomePod or whether or not it will be the size of the original HomePod or a new version of the HomePod Mini. He also stated that Apple is trying to establish its stance in the smart speaker market too.
Apple would release a new version of HomePod in 4Q22-1Q23, and there may not be much innovation in hardware design. Smart speakers are undoubtedly one of the essential elements of the home ecosystem, but I think Apple is still figuring out how to succeed in this market.

This also comes at a time where Kuo recently said that Apple is working on a new Apple TV too.
