The upcoming Apple Watch Pro will feature a larger display and a new design during the launch of the new lineup this fall. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the new watch will have significant changes.

Apple is scheduled to unveil a new set of products this September, including the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 and two other models. Series 8 is likely to include a number of new features to the lineup in 2022, one of the rumored products is a new high-end Apple Watch Pro model.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter on Sunday, Gurman reports that Apple is developing a new Apple Watch “Pro” that will gear towards extreme sports and enhanced health features.

The report cites that this model will feature the first refreshed design since the Apple Watch Series 4 in 2018. Furthermore, the watch will have a 7% larger display, matching display analyst Ross Young’s claims earlier this month ”“ The watch could sport a 1.99-inch display, a 5% increase:

“I’m told that the high-end model is going to be a good bit bigger than the standard Apple Watch””big enough that it might only appeal to a subset of customers. The screen will be about 7% larger, and the device will have a fresh look,”

However, previous rumors suggested that the product’s design will follow the footsteps of the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro and feature flat-edged sides. Gurman notes that this won’t be the case, as the design will be an evolution of the current rectangular shape, and not circular.

Gurman also states that when it comes to materials, the Apple Watch Pro will have a “more durable formulation” of titanium to make it extra rugged. Paving for the rumored “extreme sport” focus:

“It will be an evolution of the current rectangular shape, and not circular. It also won’t have those rumored flat sides (for those who will undoubtedly ask). In terms of materials, the watch will have a more durable formulation of titanium to make it extra rugged.”

Finally, Gurman reiterates his previous claims for a body temperature sensor, a larger battery, and a new low-power mode, which will boost the battery life of the watch to make it a multi-day device on one single charge.
