Just like clockwork, Apple brought new colors across its entire collection of watch bands every season. However, one significant change to one of the watch band offerings was that both the standard and Nike Sport Bands no longer offer two straps for different wrist lengths – small/medium (S/M) and medium/large (M/L). Only the Midnight Sport band has an additional option for extra-large wrists.
Sport Bands including two straps of different lengths had been a thing ever since the original Apple Watch came out, but starting this year, if you’re ordering an individual Sport Band or configuring an Apple Watch with a Sport Band with Apple Watch Studio, you’ll be given an option to choose between a small/medium or a medium/large strap. Thus, you’ll only get one strap in the box.
The move to include only one strap of a certain length remains unclear, but it’s most likely that users who own a Sport Band don’t really use the second strap after all. I even got my new Nike Sport Band today which goes well with my current Apple Watch Series 6 and the Nike watch faces that watchOS 9 brought to all the models. I chose the S/M strap since that’s the best length for my wrist. Even the box that the band comes in indicates the strap length you choose.
Apple Watch bands are the best accessories for your Apple Watch to make it the most personal device you’ve ever owned as they always bring unique styles every season. Did you get any of the new watch bands? Sound off in the comments below.
