Today officially marks one year that I have owned my AirPods third generation.
These were a purchase I made last year during Apple’s Black Friday sale. While I did not get a discount on this transaction, I did get a nice little Apple gift card with it. Those cards are one of those things where I always have something on my mind that I would like to buy either through Apple directly or through iTunes or the App Store.
With it being a year later, I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed these AirPods. It does not have the noise-cancellation feature that the AirPods Pro have, but they do not have that gummy or silicon part on the earpiece. I know many people like them but I have never cared for them all that much.
Even without the technical noise-cancellation feature, I have used these in multiple necessary situations, and while not perfect, the AirPods 3 do provide a nice layer of noise-cancellation to them.
I do like the fact that like with every version of the AirPods out there, they are so portable. The carrying/charging case for them feels nice in the hand and easy to slip in and out of my pocket.
I did add a silicon/rubber case to them this summer to have a layer of protection on them. I am always paranoid I will drop them and break the case.
As for the sound quality, it’s still great. I have used these at my workplace and can hear my music just fine and not be disturbed by the chatter and noise of coworkers.
Phone calls on them are too perfect. It’s like perfection in your ear just because you can hear what the person is saying clearly and your hands are free to do other tasks like making dinner or doing laundry.
If I had to say one flaw with them, it’s the sensitivity of them trying to distinguish when they are or are not coming out of my ears. I have had issues as of late with my music being paused while listening to music because the AirPods think they’re out of my ear when the truth is they just moved slightly one way or the other but are still in my ears.
Thankfully, there is a setting on the AirPods where that issue can be resolved and you end up no longer having to worry about that.
All in all, I have been quite satisfied with my AirPods 3. They make for a great mobile way to listen to music and media, and make phone calls a much more enjoyable experience.
