Apple suddenly closes Charlotte, NC Apple Store after recent shootings

Apple has posted on the store’s page that it has officially closed the Northlake Mall Apple Store for good.

The company did say that it does have plans to open a new location in Charlotte next year, but an opening date for that new store has not been said by Apple at this time.

According to Bloomberg, Apple did tell employees at the store on Wednesday, March 1, that the store would be closing immediately. Once employees were told about the store closure, the store’s page on Apple’s website reflected said closure.

Apple did tell workers they would not be laid off and would be transferred to the SouthPark store in Charlotte. There was the option for employees to take on positions with Apple’s online store too.

The source also reported that the recent shootings played a factor in the closing of the store, but that the move from Apple is still unusual, overall.
