Ad-supported version of Netflix now works on Apple TV

Late last year, Netflix launched its newest plan which is called “Netflix Basic with Ads,” which does exactly what it says; it has ads played when users play TV shows and movies on the streaming service.

For Netflix users that have an Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K and had this tier of Netflix were essentially unable to use it from either of those devices. When it was initially launched, getting support for Netflix Basics with ads on the Apple TV was said to be “coming soon.”

Fast forward a few months and we can happily report that the tvOS Netflix app has been updated to support Netflix Basic with Ads on the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K, according to TechCrunch.

Netflix Basics with Ads currently costs $6.99 a month and for an extra $3 per month, consumers can get the first ad-free version of Netflix which is at $9.99 a month. The company is also said to have around one million subscribers on the ad-supported plan, according to 9to5Mac.
