Time is up on one particular plan for Netflix subscribers.

Netflix has officially removed the $9.99 a month Basic tier for customers in the United States and United Kingdom. Before it was removed, it was the cheapest ad-free version of Netflix that was available. It had previously been removed in Canada last month.

What the Basic plan did for subscribers other than provide an ad-free viewing experience was only allow for their account to be used on one device at a time and the video quality would only get as high as 720p.

Now that the Basic tier has been removed, the cheapest ad-free plan is the Standard plan that costs $15.49 a month and has the following features stated below.

  • Unlimited ad-free movies, TV shows, and mobile games
  • Watch on 2 supported devices at a time
  • Watch in Full HD
  • Download on 2 supported devices at a time
  • Option to add 1 extra member who doesn’t live with you

Netflix does have another plan called the Premium plan for subscribers that want the best possible experience there is that costs $19.99 a month and has these features:

For subscribers that do not want to pay either for the Standard or Premium plans, they can get the ad-supported version of Netflix that costs just $6.99 a month, is called “Standard with ads,”  and comes with these features:

Customers that are still on the $9.99 a month Basic plan can stay on it for now and will not be immediately forced to change their current plan. However, if the customer does decide to change their plan to a different one, they will not be able t0 go back to using the Basic plan.

Netflix is currently available to stream on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.
