The folks over at Automattic and Day One Journal have announced a new feature for the popular journaling app which is shared journals.

One user will have to have Day One Premium, which is $2.92 a month or $34.99 a year, and then set up a shared journal. Other users that are wanting to be a part of that shared journal but don’t have Day One Premium can still be invited no matter what type of subscription they have.

This is how Day One describes its newest feature:

“Shared Journals are a new type of journal in Day One that allows you to invite others to view, comment, or add entries of their own to a Shared Journal.”

Those who create a shared journal will have the ability to manage it and choose which people have access to seeing and making entries in it.

Security is an area of importance for this and Day One states that the journals are “powered by the same end-to-end encryption technology as your other Day One journals, ensuring your shared space is a safe space. Share freely with the assurance that your journal is only visible to the people you invite.”

Regular journals and shared journals are separated in the Day One app too so it keeps the app and the users’ journals more organized.

Day One Journal is available on the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac.
