When Apple introduced both the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, one of the key major features was the “Double Tap” feature, a new magical gesture that allows you to perform a double tap between your thumb and index finger to perform a quick core action on the current interface. This includes things such as answering a call or playing a current track.
Today, the second beta of watchOS 10.1 has been released to developers, which now includes this feature. It’s still important to note that this feature is exclusive to both the latest Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models, thanks to the improved S9 chip.
While there’s no official word on when watchOS 10.1 will be released, it will most likely be later this month as Apple has offered the first major “dot” update after the initial release of all of its software platforms. We can also expect Apple to release iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, tvOS 17.1, and macOS Sonoma 14.1 later this month as well. You can read what’s new with watchOS 10 here, and learn what’s new with both the Series 9 and Ultra 2 that Apple debuted last month.
