According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will not update the AirPods Max until late 2024. The only changes expected are fresh colors and USB-C charging, replacing the lightning port. The company is also not expected to add the H2 chip, Personalized Volume, and Adaptive Audio like in the AirPods Pro.

Gurman says that Apple will be replacing the lightning port with USB-C to comply with European regulations and for consistency across the family of AirPods products. Last month, Apple released an updated AirPods Pro with a new USB-C port without changing the version number. It is possible we can expect the same for the AirPods Max.

He also notes that Apple’s plans could “possibly” change between now and when the AirPods Max are launched.
