Now that pre-orders for the Apple Vision Pro are open, Apple has finally revealed the specifications for their highly-awaited headset today.

The Apple Vision Pro features a powerful combination of the M2 chip and the R1 chip with it running Apple’s new operating system built for the device – visionOS. According to Apple, “The breakthrough display, advanced audio experiences, high-performance eye tracking system, and more are powered by Apple silicon in a unique dual-chip design. The M2 chip delivers powerful standalone performance, while the brand-new R1 chip processes input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones to ensure that content feels like it is appearing right in front of the user’s eyes.” The Apple Vision Pro will be able to access more than a million compatible iOS and iPadOS apps at launch with more than 250 games on Apple Arcade.

Here are the exact specifications shared by Apple:

Chips & Storage:

The M2 chip features:

  • 8‑core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores
  • 10‑core GPU
  • 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 16GB unified memory
While the R1 chip features:
  • 12‑millisecond photon‑to‑photon latency
  • 256GB/s memory bandwidth

Apple has not mentioned the memory bandwidth for the M2 chip, however, we can assume that it is 100GB/s considering that it’s the same for M2 Macs. The Apple Vision Pro will come with a starting price of $3,499 for 256GB of storage. However, you can also upgrade your storage to 512GB ($3699) or 1TB ($3899).

The displays are undoubtedly the most important and probably the most expensive part of the Apple Vision Pro considering these specifications shared by Apple:

  • 23 million pixels
  • 3D display system
  • Micro‑OLED
  • 7.5‑micron pixel pitch
  • 92% DCI‑P3
  • Supported refresh rates: 90Hz, 96Hz, 100Hz
  • Supports multiple playback at 24fps and 30fps for judder‑free video

According to Apple, the Vision Pro supports “up to 1080p AirPlay for mirroring your view in Apple Vision Pro to any AirPlay‑enabled device, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV (2nd generation or later), or AirPlay‑enabled smart TV”

Camera:

  • Stereoscopic 3D main camera system
  • Spatial photo and video capture
  • 18 mm, ƒ/2.00 aperture
  • 6.5 stereo megapixels

Sensors:

  • Two high‑resolution main cameras
  • Six world‑facing tracking cameras
  • Four eye‑tracking cameras
  • TrueDepth camera
  • LiDAR Scanner
  • Four inertial measurement units (IMUs)
  • Flicker sensor
  • Ambient light sensor

Wireless:

  • Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax)
  • Bluetooth 5.3

Weight:

  • 21.2–22.9 ounces (600–650 g)

Operating ambient temperature:

  • 32º to 86º F (0º to 30º C)

Storage temperature:

  • −4º to 113º F (−20º to 45º C)

Relative humidity:

  • 0% to 95%

Over the last few days, customers were unsure about the cost of the AppleCare+ plan for the Apple Vision Pro. Today, Apple has also confirmed the price of the plan to be $499 for two years or $24.99/per month. I would say that the cost of the plan is justified due to the specifications and replacement costs of the product itself considering its starting price of $3,499.
