With the next release of the iPhone 16 series in around 7 months, the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to feature a bigger upgrade in the main camera sensor. This comes from the latest post from a Weibo user named “Digital Chat Station,” which has revealed several details about the camera technology of the next iPhone models.

First, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will use a custom-made 48MP Sony IMX903 sensor with more advanced features, including a 14-bit Analog-to-Digital converter and Digital Gain Control. Those features will result in photos with improvements in quality such as dynamic range and noise control.

Additionally, the sensor size will increase from 1/1.28 inches from the iPhone 15 Pro models to 1/1.14 inches. A higher aperture will allow more light to be captured by the sensor, which means an improvement in low-light photography.

Finally, the next iPhone models will iterate on the current design of the iPhone 15 series, featuring more rounded curves along the edges. The iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to be just as thin as the current iPhone 15 Pro models, respectively.
