With just a few days until the official launch of the Vision Pro, an anonymous source reports that Apple has sold around 200,000 units of that spatial computing device. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted that Apple would initially produce up to 80,000 headsets for launch with a total of up to 400,000 headsets by year’s end.
Preorders for the headset started on January 19, and orders for day one delivery sold out within hours, followed by in-store pickup options soon after. It’s no surprise to see longer shipping dates for this device given the higher demand for a product with shorter supplies. However, the very steep starting price of $3,499 makes this niche product out of range for potential buyers.
We’re also expecting the embargo for first impressions and initial reviews to be lifted tomorrow, and that content could spark even more interest again.
Vision Pro, powered by the M2 and R1 chips, starts at $3,499 with 256GB of storage and 16GB of unified memory. Vision Pro is also available with 512GB of storage ($3,699) and 1TB of storage ($3,899). Vision Pro includes several accessories in the box such as the special branded Polishing Cloth. You can pre-order today, and availability will start on Friday, February 2. You’ll need a device with Face ID to order one so that it can determine the right sizing for the headband.
