One of the country’s major streaming services is making a big change in how it does its subscriptions.
Apple has sent out emails to customers, letting those that have their Netflix subscription that goes through Apple, will not be able to continue to do so, according to Luke Bouma at Cord Cutters News.
Any subscription that goes through Apple and its App Store, Apple has been said to take a 15-30 percent cut of the money from that subscription, which has also been referred to over the years as “the Apple tax.”
To avoid this, other companies over the years have made it so users can only subscribe through their website. This has been said to be the case with streaming services like YouTube TV and music streaming service Spotify.
For the users impacted by this change with their subscription billing through Apple, Netflix is said to be contacting its customers with Apple/App Store payment as their default and asking them to go into their account and update their payment information.
